Program Description:
ESM paris
 
France’s preeminent music school since 1795, the Paris Conservatory is housed in a building completed in 1990 at the national arts center, La Cité de la musique.  Containing 70 classrooms and 3 concert halls, the Paris Conservatory’s outstanding facilities complement its long tradition of teaching excellence. Audition requirements:
  • Recording, with a preference for video, of 20-30 minutes of contrasting pieces in different styles.  Composers must provide a portfolio of works, and musicology applicants must provide a detailed paper explaining past research.  For jazz students the length of the recording should be 15 - 20 minutes and include one standard where the student plays the melody and takes a solo on the changes (with a rhythm section or group), one composition of the student or, in case he/she does not compose, an arrangement of a tune of the student’s choice that could indicate the student’s aesthetic direction (with a rhythm section or group), and a free solo improvisation.
