The Evans Lam Study Abroad Scholarship for Hong Kong and China offers the opportunity to study at the University of Rochester’s Exchange Partner, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The scholarship covers two courses taken at CUHK during the Summer of 2019 as well as participation in an experiential study tour of Beijing.
The scholarship provides up to $5000 per student, and covers tuition, housing, most meals and post-program travel within mainland China. Courses include China Studies, Environment, Science, & Technology, Chinese language, and Culture & Society. A full list of courses is available at:

Undergraduates in the College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering, as well as the Eastman School of Music are eligible to apply. Students must be in good standing; all majors are encouraged. This is a competitive scholarship; selection is based on merit and the student's ability to articulate interest in studying in Hong Kong and China. Preference will be given to students with little or no previous study experience in Asia. Those who already have significant experience in Asia or Asian studies are not eligible.

Applications will be reviewed by the Center for Education Abroad.
Awardees will be required to submit a summary report of their experience to share with the donors by September 15, 2019. During Meliora Weekend (October, 2019), students will be required to present their summer experience to fellow students to raise interest among future participants and to raise awareness of the value of Hong Kong as a study abroad destination.
Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply.  Seniors who have been admitted into the Take Five or KEY programs may apply if they will be on campus for the Fall, 2019 semester.
The deadline is March 1 and awardees will be notified of selection by March 31, 2019. For inquiries, please contact the Center for Education Abroad:
